Panaji: A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a teenaged girl when she went to attend her tuition classes in North Goa district, police said on Tuesday.
The accused, Arvind Kushwah, hailing from Bihar, was nabbed at Margao railway station on Monday when he was planning to go his native place along with the 15-year-old girl, police inspector Jivba Dalvi told reporters here.
The girl's mother filed a missing person's complaint on Sunday when the girl did not return home from her tuition classes, he
said.
"During the probe, the police got to know that the girl was in touch with a man. The police then kept a tab of calls made by the man on his mobile phone and found he was proceeding to the Margao railway station along with the girl," Dalvi said.
A police team then rushed to the railway station where the accused was nabbed and the girl was rescued, he said.
The accused was booked under Indian Penal Code Section 363 (kidnapping) and provisions of the Goa Children's Act, he added.
