Man held for kidnapping minor girl

Hyderabad: The Nacharam police has arrested a fitness trainer from Bengaluru for kidnapping a minor girl in the city. The accused Charles Gomez had met the 17-year-old girl on Facebook, lured her with the promise of marriage and kidnapped her, police said.

The girl, a native of Bihar, lives in the city with her brother at HMT Nagar, Nacharam. She had completed her Intermediate and was preparing for Neet at home. A few months ago, Gomez, a native of Kolkata, came in contact with the girl on Facebook. The duo exchanged phone



numbers and spoke frequently. Last week, Gomez came to the city, proposed marriage and took the girl to Bengaluru with him.

The girl’s brother lodged a complaint with the police, who traced her and apprehended Gomez in Bengaluru.

Nacharam inspector M. Mahesh said, “Gomez lured the girl on the pretext of marriage and took her with him to Bengaluru, where he was working. He was booked on charges of kidnapping, arrested on Saturday, and sent to judicial remand.”
