Man held for marriage alliance racket

A conman, who took money from people after promising marriage alliances and then cheated them, was arrested by central crime station sleuths at Vanasthalipuram on Thursday .
CCS officials said T Krishna, a resident of Vanasthalipuram, issued advertisements in a verna cular daily under the column `Pelli Chuppulu'. On seeing an advertisement, victim J Sridas, a resident of Bank Street, contacted the accused who



directed him to send his photo along with his profile.
Later, Krishna called the victim to share details of a prospective alliance, but the victim was first asked to deposit Rs 5,000 in a bank account. After he paid up the sum, the victim was given a contact number. When the victim called the number, the phone was switched off.
After a few days, the culprit called the victim again and sought Rs 3,000 to give the contact number of another alliance. The victim paid the money . However, he soon realised he was being cheated and approached the police.
