Chennai: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old man killed his grandmother after she refused him money to buy alcohol. The incident took place in Sholavaram area of Tiruvallur district on Wednesday night. The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Jegan.
Police have now arrested the accused. He killed his grandmom after dropping a pan on her head. The deceased woman has been identified as Susila, a resident of Pasuvanapalayam village.
She retired as anganwadi worker. Her son Ranganathan lives in Vanagram in Chennai. Ranganathan's son Jegan was visiting his grandmom.

Wednesday, the accused asked Susila for money to buy liquor but she refused. Upset over the refusal, Jegan dropped a heavy dosa pan on her head causing her death.
Jegan was arrested by police from his friend's house in a nearby village. Police said he has confessed to the crime.
In a similar incident in October 2020, a 65-year-old woman was allegedly beheaded by her son with a sickle on after she allegedly refused him money for buying liquor. The accused later walked away with the victim's head, police said.
The incident happened took place in Kollapur area of Nagarkurnool district in Telangana.
