Man kills wife, attempts suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A man allegedly murdered his wife and later attempted to die by suicide in their house in Gokul Plots in Miyapur here in the early hours of Tuesday. A family dispute is suspected to have led to the incident, police said.

The couple, identified as Yogi, a labourer, and Aruna, are suspected to have financial problems and had frequent fights over it.

According to the police, on Monday night they are suspected to have had an argument and when



Aruna went off to sleep, Yogi strangled her to death.

“Fearing the consequences, he too attempted suicide by drinking phenyl. Their neighbours who found them forcibly opened the door and rushed to their rescue,” police said.

While Aruna’s body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy, Yogi is being treated at a nearby private hospital. His condition is said to be stable.
