Karimnagar: After being denied the registration of agricultural land in his name, a man clubbed his mother to death at Renigunta village in Thimmapur mandal of Karimnagar district.

According to the police, Thammanaveni Kanakavva, 56, had three daughters who were married and a son, Vinod, 28. Unable to bear the torture by her son, Kanakavva gifted her 1.2 acres of land to Vinod.

Kanakavva used to lead her life on her own with the money she was getting from the lease of another 2 acres of land, gifted by

her father, on the outskirts of Jangalapalli in Ganneruvaram mandal.

However, Vinod began to harass his mother to transfer the two acres in his name. As she refused to do so, Vinod tried to forcefully cultivate the land, to which Kanakavva objected. Enraged by this, he attacked her by hitting on her head with a shovel. She died on the spot.

After a complaint by the victim’s younger daughter Kalyani, police arrested Vinod after filing a case.
