Karimnagar: A 15-year-old girl of a migrant worker’s family from Madhya Pradesh succumbed to her injuries after being gangraped by four unidentified persons at Appannapet village of Peddapalli district. The incident occurred two days ago and came to light on Thursday after the issue went viral on social media.
According to sources, the minor girl came to Peddapalli with her sister and 50 other migrant labourers from Madhya Pradesh to work on constructing site. On August 14, two unidentified persons picked up from the general stores and gangraped her at a secluded area with two other individuals.
When the girl began to bleed heavily, the four accused abandoned her at the huts where her relatives were staying at midnight and fled. Instead of taking her to the hospital, the girl's relatives attempted to shift her to Madhya Pradesh in a private vehicle, fearing repercussions. The girl died around halfway to Madhya
Pradesh.
The girl's relative, who informed her parents about her death, performed her final rituals and buried her body on their way to Madhya Pradesh without informing police officials. However, when news of the gang rape of a minor girl spread on social media platforms, police officials took the matter seriously and launched an inquiry into the event.
Ramagundam Police Commissioner Rema Rajeshwari said that they deployed special teams and sent police personnel to bring the dead body where it was buried. She said that after sending it to the post mortem and reviewing the results, a case will be filed against the accused.
Police are investigating and questioning the minor girl's relatives as well as other residents of the area where the girl and migrant labourers lived. The police suspect that several other persons were also involved in the gangrape.
