A 10-year-old girl, who went missing, was found raped and murdered on the banks of Godavari river near Kuchanapalli village in Soan Mandal of Nirmal district. The murder happened on Saturday and the incident came to light on Sunday, after the minor girl’s parents and relatives blocked national highway 44 protesting against the crime and demanded justice.
The protesters demanded capital punishment for the suspect. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old T Praveen, who works as a labourer. Praveen killed the girl with a
boulder.
Soan Inspector Ramesh Babu said that the accused Praveen was the maternal uncle of the victim’s classmate and he picked her while she was playing near her home.
Initially, police had booked a missing case and distributed pamphlets in the area seeking information about the missing girl. Later, accused Praveen was taken into police custody and after interrogation he confessed that he killed the girl fearing that she would reveal about the rape.
