Mother Kills 18-day-Old Infant in Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh

Kurnool: A woman killed her 18-day-old son in Gandhi Nagar area of Nandyal town by cutting his neck with a knife on Tuesday evening.

The accused has been identified as Shanu Bee. Neighbours rushed to the house upon hearing the baby's cries and were shocked to find the infant in a pool of blood, with blood sprayed on her face.

The neighbours immediately informed her husband and police.

According to police, Shanu Bee and Mahesh had a love marriage three years ago. They started living in Gandhi Nagar within the jurisdiction of Three Town police station.

Mahesh worked as a daily wage labourer in a mineral water



plant in the town.

Last year, Shanu Bee gave birth to a female baby who died just two weeks after birth due to health complications. She conceived again and gave birth to a male baby 18 days ago.

On Tuesday evening, while Mahesh was away at work, Shanu Bee killed her son.

Three Town circle inspector Narasimhulu said preliminary investigations suggest that Shanu Bee had been going through depression and issues related to mental health. Police have shifted Shanu Bee to a hospital for treatment.

A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
