Kurnool: Nandyal police have arrested a minor who, in a fit of rage, brutally killed his brother-in-law after the latter berated his late mother. Chagalamarri circle inspector Hanumantha Naik said the minor and his brother-in-law Aslam, 22, are close relatives and residents of Chagalamarri town in Nandyal district.

They would frequently indulge in drinking together. But disputes arose as Aslam had a habit of scolding the minor boy's mother, who had died due to ill health a few years ago.

On December 29, the two, along with a friend, had been consuming liquor on the roof of their friend's house

near Kuluru Chowrasta in the town.

During their conversation, an argument broke out. Aslam once again berated the minor's deceased mother. Enraged, the 17-year-old attacked Aslam with a knife he had concealed in his pocket before fleeing the scene.

Police filed a case and took the minor into custody on January 2. They presented him before the court on Wednesday.

Following the magistrate's instructions, the boy had been shifted to Government Observation Home for Boys at B. Camp in Kurnool city, the inspector added.
