Newly-wed woman commits suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A recently wed woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging in her house at Vasanthapuri Colony in Malkajgiri on Tuesday night.

The woman, identified as Sameena Banu (20), from Vinayaka Nagar in Neredmet, had a love marriage with Sai Charan, a private employee from Chandragiri Colony in Neredmet last November. They first stayed in Neredmet and moved to Vasanthapuri Colony three months ago.

According to the police, for the last four months, Sai Charan, who was jobless, was harassing Sameena Banu both mentally and physically for money, even though she was three months pregnant.

“The harassment for money increased since the last one



week and unable to take it, she could have hanged herself,” police said, adding that neighbours had found her hanging and informed her sister Meraj Banu, who rushed to the spot along with her husband.

“They loosened the noose and called a doctor from a nearby private hospital, who declared her dead,” police said. On receiving information, the Malkajgiri police reached the spot and took up investigation. Based on a complaint from Mearaj Banu on Wednesday morning, a case for dowry harassment and abetment to suicide was booked against Sai Charan, who is absconding.

The body was shifted to the hospital for autopsy.
