The Hyderabad Task Force arrested eight persons at various places in the city and seized Rs 3.1 crore of unaccounted cash and gold worth Rs 60 lakh during raids conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The arrested persons were identified as A Prakash, Kiran Goud, SV Krishnam Raju, Ganesh Goud, Mayur Ram Gulabani, Sanjay Kumar Jha, D Yadagiri and Naresh Angara.

According to the police, Prakash, Kiran Goud and Krishnam Raju collected Rs 2.1 crore from a hawala agent in Banjara Hills and planned to transport it in cars to Sangareddy allegedly to distribute it to voters there in an attempt to make them vote for T Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jaggareddy, the Congress candidate



there.

They were handed over to the Jubilee Hills police for further action.
In another incident, Ganesh Goud collected Rs 48 lakh from one Sumith Agarwal at Saifabad in order to give it to one Dass Robert, when he was caught. The unaccounted cash was seized.

Ram Gulabani, a pearl merchant from Charminar who is also a hawala agent, engaged Sanjay and Yadagiri to deliver Rs 50 lakh and gold to one Mahender Aggarwal when they were caught. Cash and gold worth Rs 60 lakh was seized from them.

In another incident, Naresh Angara was caught with Rs 6.5 lakh hawala cash by the police at Ranigunj.
