Self-styled godman arrested for allegedly raping female disciples in Haryana

The Fatehabad police have arrested a self-styled godman for allegedly raping his female disciples and filming the act, police said on Friday.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Tohana, Joginder Sharma said that on Thursday night, they got a tip-off that the godman, identified as Amar Puri alias Billu, was sexually abusing his female disciples and creating MMS of the crime.

“Following the information, we conducted a raid at his residence, located in Shakti Nagar area and recovered banned drugs and obscene video CDs from his possession,” the DSP said. He was immediately arrested and produced before a local court on Friday. The court has sent him to five days in police remand.

have gone viral and are being circulated through social networking sites in Tohana.

He added that they are investigating to find out how many disciples were raped by the godman. There are also reports that the godman had been extorting money from the disciples after blackmailing them over the obscene videos.

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 292 (sale, act of obscene books), 293 (sale,of obscene objects to young person), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 384 (extortion), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and 67-A (whoever publishes or transmits or causes to be published or transmitted in the electronic form any material which contains sexually explicit act) of the Information and Technology-Act (IT-Act).
