The wife and daughter of a senior bureaucrat caught by the CBI while taking a bribe, committed suicide at their home here on Tuesday.
The bodies of Satyabala Bansal, 58, and Neha Bansal, 28, were found hanging from ceiling fans in separate rooms at the family’s flat in Neelkanth Apartment in east Delhi’s IP Extension, at about 1.30 pm.
Bal Kishen Bansal, director general in the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was detained on Saturday in connection with a bribery case
involving Rs 9 lakh.
His house was raided on Monday night. A suicide note found near Satyabala’s body said she felt humiliated by the CBI raid at her house, and no one should be held responsible for her death. The CBI said in a statement that the deceased were not questioned by them during the raid on their house.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by the incident. Both the deceased were neither accused nor questioned or summoned in the ongoing investigation,” the CBI said.
