The Hyderabad police on Saturday busted a high-profile sex racket at a five-star hotel in Banjara Hills and arrested two persons, including the organizer. The police rescued a film actor, from Mumbai.
They also seized Rs 40,400 in cash and three mobile phones from the organiser, Ambula Janardhan Rao alias Jonny — a native of East Godavari district and resident of Chilkalguda in Secunderabad.
The customer, Amit Mahendra Sharma (39), a resident of Sainikpuri and native of Gurgaon in Haryana, was also nabbed. Rao’s associate B Prashant, who is at large, booked room number 518 in Radisson Blu
Plaza.
Both Rao and Prashant were running the business from the room by getting film actors from Mumbai and other States on a contract basis. They used to pay them Rs 1 lakh for a week. The duo would collect Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 from each customer.
Rao was earlier arrested by the Banjara Hills, Punjagutta and Chandanagar police for committing similar offences, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) P Radhakishan Rao said.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the room and arrested Rao and Sharma after rescuing the film actress.
