Nigerian origin actor Chekwume Malvin who has worked in Bollywood too under movies such as Singham, V Vishwaroopam and Anna Bond, has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly peddling drugs. The actor was nabbed by the cops following a tip-off for reportedly selling drugs to college students and businessmen.
According to a report in Time Now, the officials have seized drugs worth over 8 lakh along with 15 grams of MDMA and 250 ml of hash oil worth around Rs 7 lakh from his possession. The actor has worked in South cinema and was currently residing in India on a medical visa.
He is reportedly booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Interstingly Malvin's character in Suriya's Singham is actually
not too different from his reality. The actor actually smuggled drugs on reel too and played the role of a drug smuggler in Danny Sapani's gang. It is quite ironic that he gets arrested in the movie too.
Apart from Singam 2, Chekwume Malvin has also acted in brief roles in movies such Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam, Anna Bond, Dilwale, Jamboo Savari, Paramathma, and more. In fact, it is even reported that he had taken part in a 2-month training at the New York Film Academy in Mumbai.
This is not the first time celebs have gotten into trouble with the authorities. Tollywood actors Rakul Preet Singh, Ravi Teja, Charmee Kaur, Baahubali fame Rana Daggubati too had been summoned by ED for allegedly being connected to the money laundering case in drug trafficking and consumption.
