Six members of a family from Hyderabad died in a road accident at Nasarpalli village of Chintapalli mandal in Nalgonda district on Sunday.
The victims were residents of Tolichowki. They were proceeding to Nagarjunasagar dam for an excursion in a car when the accident occurred.
Over-speeding and negligence by the driver is said to be the reason behind the accident. The car hit the wall of a bus station killing four of the occupants. Two others died later. The bodies were shifted to Hyderabad for postmortem examination.
According to the police, members of five families from Tolichowki left Hyderabad for Nagarjunasagar dam in three cars. As they neared Nasarpalli village, the driver of one of the cars lost control over the wheel and hit the wall of the bus station.
The car was badly damaged.
The police have identified the deceased as Akbar, 55, Asia Begum, 55, Mohsin, 38, Mustafa, 27, Saddam, 19 and Sammi, 4. Local residents told the police that the car was moving at a high speed and crashed into the wall.
Members in the other two cars shifted the victims to Hyderabad with the help of local residents. Asia Begum died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad. The accident occurred on the busy Hyderbaad-Nagarjunasagar road. Traffic was held up for quite some time following the accident.
Devarakonda DSP Ravi Kumar and Nampalli inspector Venkat Reddy visited the accident spot. Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
