Six persons, including two foreign nationals, were arrested here on Monday by the City Police on charges of selling cocaine.The police seized 370 grams of cocaine, Rs 46,000 in cash, 12 mobile phones, a Ford car and a motorcycle from them.
According to the police, acting on a tip off, the Commissioner’s Task Force in coordination with Jubilee Hills Police had caught one Mandela James (38) a South African and Drake Owen (27) from Ghana. They had come to India on a business visa and were doing a garment export business.
The suspects had developed contact with four locals Abhishek Kumar, G Srinivasulu, JE Naveen Kumar and M Srinivas
and through them allegedly sold cocaine to different persons at Rs 3,500 a gram, DCP Task Force, B Limba Reddy, said.
James came to India in 2011 and visited Hyderabad regularly, during which he sought the help of Drake Owen to sell the drug to locals here.Four days ago, Abhishek Kumar and G Srinivasulu, came in contact with Drake Owen and Mandela James, and told them to supply 15 to 20 grams of cocaine.
They were caught at Jubilee Hills check post on Monday when they were exchanging the contraband, Reddy said, adding that the six arrested were handed over to Jubilee Hills police station for further action.
