A Delhi court on Monday ordered an FIR against a woman police officer for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl by forcing her to go through the two-finger test, but the trauma for the victim had begun in August last year.
Back then, the girl was a Class 5 student in Kirari. The alleged sexual harassment of the girl had started in the first week of August, 2016 when her Hindi teacher would allegedly pass remarks laced with sexual innuendos at her.
She said she ignored his remarks until August 6, when she had to approach him for help with her assignment. "The teacher asked me to meet him in the lunch break. When I met him during the recess, he took me to an empty room," the girl had told the cops back then. In her complaint, the girl had said that the teacher allegedly groped her. She had then gone home and narrated her the incident to her mother.
The girl's mother and stepfather told the police when they confronted the teacher on the next working day, they were threatened. The stepfather also alleged that he was thrashed by the school staff. "When I demanded an explanation from the teacher, they slapped me and kicked me," the stepfather had said.
Though the school authorities denied all charges and said the girl was being abused at home, the girl said that she was threatened into telling the police that it was her stepfather who was actually molesting her. "They took my two-year-old brother in their arms and threatened
to kill him. They also warned me that they would get my parents jailed and make me land up in an orphanage if I disobeyed them," the girl had explained her "confession".
Her stepfather had also alleged that he was "forced" to put his thumb impression on a "confession" that he was molesting the girl. "I am an uneducated man. I did not know the contents of the letter they threatened me into signing," the stepfather had alleged.
The school authorities, however, insisted that the allegations against the teacher came after they tried alerting the mother about the crime happening at home in her absence. "The girl's parents influenced her after we informed her mother about the sexual abuse at their home," the then school in-charge had alleged.
"The girl was crying and told her friends that whenever her mother was away to her village, her stepfather would abuse her. We decided to call her mother alone and alert her about it," the school in-charge had alleged.
Over the next few days, the accused teacher was arrested, and is still in jail under POCSO. The police had also booked the girl's stepfather on charges of sexual assault. He is out on bail. The police officer who the court now wants an FIR filed against was the investigating officer in the case. The charge against her is that she allegedly ordered a forced medical examination of the girl in March, adding to the eight-month-long ordeal of abuse against her.
