Nursing a grudge for being thrown out of a job, a former employee avenged his expulsion by draining out more than 1.1 lakh litres of liquor from a distillery located in Phase 1, Industrial Area, Chandigarh, on Monday.

Batra Beverages and Distilleries employee Rishi Pal Singh of Panchkula approached the Chandigarh police with a complaint against Munna ,20, of trespassing into the company. The accused has been arrested.

Accused Munna resides in Sanjay Labor Colony, Phase 1, Industrial Area, Chandigarh. As per the police, Munna scaled up the wall to enter into the distillery at around 11pm, opened the valves of the tanks storing liquor and drained out five to six liquor tanks on the night of January 27.

Each tank has the capacity of storing about 40,000 litre liquor. The tanks that Munna opened up contained spirit and whisky, the police said. The company supplies the liquor for sale in Delhi, said police.

As the distillery was closed over the weekend, the case came to light on Monday, when the distillery was opened. Munna had been working in the same factory till Diwali, last year,

when he was thrown out of the job. He had approached the management two-three times to take him back but they refused.

Following the incident, Munna took up a job in a nearby factory but kept nursing a grudge against his former employer for expelling him.

The incident was recorded on the CCTV cameras and the company management also recognised him following which they approached the police.

‘Wanted them to suffer’

On being questioned, the acccused told the police, “I drained out the liquor as they took my job.Despite requesting them so many times they did not take me back.”

“I wanted them to suffer the loss, like I did being out of the job,” said Munna. He told the police, “Seeing the liquor go down the drain gave me satisfaction.”

Before leaving the factory, he had kept the valves open, emptying all the tanks. As Munna had worked in the factory, he knew that no one will be there during the weekend. Munna also had prior knowledge of how the entire system works. He even knew the safe entry and exit routes.
