An activist of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was bludgeoned to death with boulders in Vikarabad district early on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Narayan Reddy, was a local leader of the party in Vikarabad. His body was found in Sultanpur village, police said, adding that the assailants were yet to be identified.
The body was found in the morning by the locals who alerted the police. The police officials have ruled out involvement of any political
party.
“It is a case of rivalry between two groups,” said the Vikarabad police.
However, agitated over the death of Reddy, party activists attacked two Congress activists holding them responsible for the death. The two were shifted to a hospital.
Following the incident, the police increased security and posted additional forces to keep the situation under control. Senior police officials are monitoring the situation.
