Hyderabad: Two persons, including a
computer technician, were arrested on charges of stealing Rs 1.8 lakh cash by
opening an ATM chest of State Bank of Hyderabad Karkhana branch
In a press conference at his office on Tuesday, North Zone DCP N Prakash Reddy said a complaint from branch manager of SBH, Vikrampuri Colony was received by the Karkhana police on November 7, that unknown persons have fraudulently withdrawn Rs 1.81 lakh from the ATM by using a secret pin. The complainant stated that pin was known only by the bank staff.
During the course of investigation,
police recovered an identity
card of an employee of a private company, which
helped the police to trace the accused Anudeep of Musheerabad. He was taken
into custody for questioning and based on his confession, the prime accused
Sujeet was also nabbed, the DCP said.
He said through interrogation, it was revealed that Sujeet during his visit to the ATM to solve the technical problems noticed the PIN number used by the bank officials to open the chest and used the same to steal the cash.
“We recovered Rs 1.5 lakh cash, two bikes and a mobile phone from them. The accused have been remanded,” the DCP added.
