Two youths, who attempted to pilfer money by extracting customers' debit card details, were arrested by Banjara Hills police on Wednesday . Police said the accused had fixed a 3D scanner at an ATM booth of PNB bank to skim card details.
Of the two accused, Satish is an engineer and his friend Aditya is a management graduate. They hail from Vijayawada and live in Vengalrao Nagar. Police said Aditya bought 3D scanner worth Rs 1.5 lakh. The two men conspired to make duplicate ATM cards from the details taken and withdraw money from bank
accounts of holders.
On September 23, Satish and Aditya went to a PNB ATM at Srinagar Colony and attempted to fix the 3D scanner. The ATM machine system, however, sensed the breach of security and raised an alarm. The duo panicked and droped the 3D scanner while trying to flee . The suspicious activity of the two and the ringing alarm caught the attention of the watchman who alerted the bank manager. Police were called but the duo sped away in a car.
The accused, however, were identified and arrested on the basis of CCTV images of the car.
