After allegedly stabbing his former girlfriend with a knife, a man attempted to commit suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, police said on Monday. The incident was reported after she refused to continue their relationship as the accused had got married to another woman, they said.
Both of them were admitted to a private hospital. The woman was later referred to AIIMS, New Delhi, as her condition was serious, the police said, adding the man has been put under detention.
According to city Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar, the woman, a final year law student, had developed intimacy with the accused while attention his tuition classes.
The man got married to another woman four months back
after his parents did not approve of his marriage with his former girlfriend, he said.
The man however, kept insisting the law student to continue their relationship, which she refused, Kumar said.
On Sunday night the accused reached the law student's home to talk to her. During the conversation he suddenly stabbed the woman with a screw driver and a knife multiple times, the SP said.
The woman’s mother rushed to the room upon hearing her cries, but the man had slit his throat by that time.
She then informed the police following which they were rushed to a private hospital, the police officer said, adding the man has been put under detention and is undergoing treatment.
