NEW DELHI: Violent protests continued at Delhi University's Ramjas college today, with clashes between the ABVP and All India Students Association (AISA) members taking place .
The scuffles broke out during a protest march by the college students and teachers demanding action against the ABVP's disruption of a literary seminar yesterday.
The Common Student Teachers March was planned to begin from the Ramjas campus to Maurice Nagar police station, when they were stopped by members of the ABVP, the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
There was heavy police deployment to control crowds, but the demonstrations and sloganeering did not stop. After causing a ruckus, the ABVP members also reportedly clashed with the police.
There were also
reports of students being threatened, locked inside the college and beaten.
If Commies can ban entry of people like Baba Ramdedv etc. in JNU; why cant ABVP students protest entry of students charged with sedition in the campus?
Yesterday, ABVP members disrupted a seminar at which JNU student Umar Khalid was invited to speak. Khalid was among the students charged with sedition in connection with an event at JNU last year where anti-national slogans were allegedly raised.
Members of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) and the ABVP gathered outside the college and shouted slogans demanding that the invite to "anti-nationals" be cancelled. Even after the college cancelled Khalid's address, the ABVP allegedly vandalised college property and pelted stones at students and teachers.
