Hyderabad:Tensions prevailed in the Osmania University for some time on Tuesday as nearly 300 students took out a rally seeking amends to norms involved in recruitments for residential schools.

The protesting students, who took out a rally from University College of Arts and Social Sciences, alleged that over 70 per cent of the vacancies have been reserved for women. Stating that they were not against reservations for women, students demanded equal opportunity in the



notification.

Anticipating trouble from students, the police who swung into action closed the entry points to the campus restricting the students to campus. The TSPSC on Monday issued notification for recruitment of 7,306 posts under residential educational institutions societies.

The students lamented that 60 per cent cut off in the degree examinations has been mandatory to be eligible for the test. Further, they said that the examination should be conducted in both Telugu and English versions.
