The State government on Tuesday has accorded permission to the Health, Medical and Family Welfare (HM&FW) department to recruit 1,191 Post Graduate medical students, who are set to appear for final exams during this academic year, as Senior Residents for a period of one year.
A Government Order (G.O. Rt. No 951) to this affect was released by the Finance Department of the State Government on Tuesday.
The move to allow PG medical students to practice as Senior Residents is aimed to fill up vacant posts and at the same time, bolster healthcare
services and manpower across all the major teaching hospitals in the State, which are involved in providing Covid-19 related services.
All the Post-Graduate medicos who are preparing for their final year examinations are eligible to apply for the 1191 posts of Senior Residents with a monthly salary of Rs. 70,000. The PG medicos will discharge their duties in health care institutions falling under Director of Medical Education (DME), Telangana. The recruitment of PG medicos will be on contract basis for a period of one-year or till the actual need ceases or whichever is earlier.
