25 schools in Manipur lose CBSE affiliation over missing documents

In total, 25 schools in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts have lost their permission to be part of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This happened because they didn't have some important papers called No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Manipur government. These papers are needed by CBSE rules for schools that want to join the central board.

The Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) School Affiliation Re-Engineered Automation System (SARAS 4.0), designed to provide real-time updates on school affiliations across India, no longer includes the 25 schools from Kangpokpi and Churachandpur in its 'affiliated' list. This sudden exclusion highlights the severity of the administrative



lapse.

Reacting to this revelation, the Manipur government has pledged stern action against those found culpable for flouting state education and CBSE regulations. The government's statement serves as a stark warning, signalling potential legal repercussions or allegations of fraudulent activities in the submission of affiliation requests to the central board.

Amongst the affected schools, eleven received CBSE affiliation between May 2020 and May 2023, with an additional 14 gaining affiliation within the past six months. Notably, all 25 schools are situated in the hill districts of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, regions embroiled in tensions between the Meitei community and the Kuki tribes, intensified since May.
