The Telangana State government would introduce online admission system for all the degree colleges across the state from the next academic year. A decision to this effect was taken during a review meeting on Education department convened by Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari with heads of the department and State universities Registrars at Sarva Siksha Abhiyan on Monday.
By going online, the government wants to checkmate bogus colleges and students. Speaking to the reporters after a three-hour long brain storming session, Srihari said universities were directed to make uniform academic calendar so
that admissions can be done hassle-free.
Srihari said all the colleges and universities were told to install biometric system and CCTV cameras by June 30. “There was a need to improve the education standards. That is possible only if students and teachers attend colleges regularly.
By introducing biometric system and CCTVs, attendance of students and staff can be monitored. Sufficient budget was given regarding the same,” he added. The Minister stated that in order to checkmate corruption, all the departments would make their services online using information and communication technologies.
