Hyderabad: Aspirants intending to appear for competitive examinations conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) have a reason to cheer. The cabinet sub-committee has reportedly given age relaxation of five years in all recruitments conducted by the commission. There were proposals of age relaxations of five, six or eight years. However, a majority of the opinions within Professor Haragopal Committee was in favour of five-year relaxation.
Sources said that the cabinet sub-committee appointed to look in to the matter had given its nod accepting the recommendations of the Prof Haragopal Committee, which had also insisted that the examination pattern remain the same. It is reliably learnt that finance department also gave its clearance for the recruitment of 25,000 posts in various departments, based on the recommendations of the cabinet
sub-committee.
Public Service Commission officials said that it was already decided to keep the examination pattern similar to previous years. As per the method of selection, every aspirant needs to appear in a preliminary examination and then sit for the mains, followed by an interview for all Group-I recruitments.
The decision was taken at a meeting headed by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari along with health minister C Laxma Reddy and officials of the education department, besides representatives of TSPSC. By deciding to give relaxation to the government job aspirants, the TRS government fulfilled its poll promise. Such age relaxation was proposed keeping in view the requests made by hundreds of students who lost their age limit following their participation in the Telangana agitation.
