Apple has hired 3,500 people and is on path to have a workforce of 5,000 in the next few years. The centre which works on Apple Maps – the company’s digital maps and navigations services – was launched by Tim Cook and is set up an existing software hub.

The California-based company has used the help of the Telangana government for its hiring process. It has recruited freshers who were trained by the Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge (TASK) in the specific software. The training, according to Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, Telangana IT and Industries department, happened through various labs set up by TASK in many engineering colleges and in just a span of one year, the headcount at Apple is 3,500.

“This number is set to go up to 5,000 people, many of whom will be recruited by Apple with the help of TASK training,” Ranjan said while outlining the skilled talent pool availability in Telangana and particularly in Hyderabad. He also

mentioned that the top five multi-national companies (MNCs) have their largest presence outside of their headquarters in Hyderabad. And the major factor other than realty has been the availability of large skilled talent.

Ranjan was speaking at the inauguration of Pactera Technologies’s first office in India in Hyderabad. He also mentioned that while fresh talent in available in abundance in the city, the attrition rate is also very low at about 3-4 per cent and this loyalty will help any company have strong foundation in turn leading to productivity.

Finally, he informed the digital technology and consulting provider company about the IT policy wherein the government is developing use cases based on emerging technologies like AI, ML, Big Data, blockchain and others. “We will be happy to partner with you to come up with solutions using these technologies,” Ranjan told officials of Pactera Technologies.
