In light of the Covid-19 pandemic raging across the world, the HRD Ministry has decided to appoint nodal officers to oversee the implementation of online education services in schools and colleges across India and the welfare of students staying in hostels.
"To ensure a coordinated approach to online education starting from Higher Education to School Education the HRD Ministry appointed nodal officers," a ministry statement on social media said.
"Welfare of the students staying in hostels is our prime
concern, hence we also appointed nodal officers for the same," it added.
The nodal officers appointed for the tasks:
1. Online education in higher education including IITs, IISERs, Central Universities and Ignou: Rakesh Sarwal AS(TE)
2. Online education in school education including NIOS: RC Meena, JS(MDM)
3. Welfare of students staying in hostels in IITs, IISERs, Central Universities, and other institutions of higher learning: Chandra Shekhar Kumar, JS(IISER)
