Punjab government has declared preparatory leaves for all classes in the government, government-aided and private schools as Covid-19 cases have started to surge again, as per the announcement made by School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Friday.
India recently recorded the highest rise in
Covid-19 cases in 24 hours since December 2020. Several Punjab districts have also imposed strict restrictions including night curfews to tackle the spread of the virus.
The Thursday morning update by the Union Health Ministry noted that Punjab reported 1,393 new Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths in the last 24 hours.
