Amid a surge in the novel Coronavirus cases, Assam is all set to reopen the schools for Class 9-12 students from Monday i.e. September 21 after a gap of six months. The schools in the state for Class 9, 10, 11, and 12 students will reopen by maintaining Covid-19 protocols.
The Assam government has already issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for reopening the schools amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The SOPs have been issued keeping in mind the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the reopening of schools.
According to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Secondary Education Department of the Assam government, for the students of class 9 and 12 will be conducted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and for the students of class 10 & 11 classes will be conducted
on Thursday, Tuesday and Saturday.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Health Ministry had issued a list of guidelines for the reopening of schools for higher classes on a voluntary basis so that students don't miss out on their academics due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“For every class, the student is less than 20, then a division in the batch will not be required," stated a government order.
"For every class, the students should be divided into 2 batches, of course, when in any class, the total number of students should be divided into 2 batches, if less than 20 students the division in the batch would not be required. The first batch of students will attend classes from 9 am to 12 noon. The second batch of students will attend classes from 1 to 4 pm,” it further stated.
