Under the Dr Banikanta Kakati Award scheme, the Assam government has decided to distribute scooters to 35,775 accomplished students who have successfully cleared their Class 12 examinations. The distribution is scheduled for November 30, as per the decision made by the Assam cabinet.
In the recent Class 12 examination conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), 5,566 boys who achieved a score of 75 per cent and above, along with 30,209 girls who secured 60 per cent and above, are set to receive scooters. This decision was made during the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in
Guwahati.
"The state government will provide scooters to 35775 meritorious students who passed the Class 12 examination and the scooter distribution programme will be held on November 30,” ANI quoted Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah as saying.
Additionally, 27,183 students who achieved 75 per cent and above in the HSLC examination conducted by SEBA will receive Rs 15,000 each under the Anundoram Borooah Award scheme on November 29.
The state cabinet further resolved to reserve three additional MBBS seats for the Royal Government of Bhutan, with two seats allocated at Nalbari Medical College and one seat at FAAMC, Barpeta.
