After taking the rise in the Covid-19 cases across the state into consideration, the Bihar education department has stated that it will be promoting the students of classes 1 to 8 without the conduction of final examinations this year.
Many states have taken the decision to promote students of junior classes to the higher grade without the conduction of exams this year due to the disruption of the academic session 2020-21 caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic situation.
A notification by the
Bihar education department reads, “As schools were closed since March last year, students are facing difficulty in appearing the exam. Due to the "unusual events" surrounding the pandemic, the government has decided not to detain students of classes 5 and 8.”
A similar decision was taken last year when students of classes 1 to 8 were promoted to the higher grade without the conduction of final examinations due to the initial spread of the Covid-19 pandemic across the country and the closure of schools.
