Around two lakh students waiting for the Common Admission Test (CAT) results were taken by surprise on Friday as IIM-Ahmedabad sent their scores via personalised SMSes to their registered mobile phone numbers.
IIM-Ahmedabad, which conducted the examination, had not intimated that it would declare results of the nationwide test in such a manner. Being the first case, confusion prevailed among students and their parents.
The situation was compounded by news reports about “hacking” of CAT 2015 website.
Many students
and parents began making frenzied calls on the telephone numbers given on CAT website to enquired about the veracity of the buzz.
Tempers came down only after examination officials announced that there was nothing to worry as their overall scores were sent to them through personalised messages on mobile phones to ensure candidates do not face any in convenience. They were also assured that their sectional percentiles would be posted on CAT website “in a short while.”
Details of the scores were later uploaded on the website.
