CBSE Board releases notice against rumours and fake information, Check full details

The CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2023 are underway from February 15 to April 5 in more than 7250 exam centres across India and 26 countries abroad. The Central Board of Secondary Education released a notice today noting that it is taking strict action against those spreading rumours and fake news about the board exams.

“It has come to the notice of the Board that certain unscrupulous elements are regularly spreading rumours on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms about paper leak or claiming to have access to question papers of 2023 exams,” it stated.

“These persons, groups and agencies intend to fleece the gullible students and parents as they demand money in return. Such irresponsible activities create confusion and panic



among the students and public,” said the CBSE notice.

The notice stated that the board is regularly intimating Delhi Police Special Cell (MAC) to take stern action against persons involved in circulating fake news using social media platforms under various provisions of IPC and IT Act.

A student found spreading fake news would face action under the ‘Unfair Means’ rules and various sections of IPC, it said.

“Parents are also requested to guide their wards not to believe such rumours and not indulge in any such activity which hampers the smooth conduct of board examinations,” the notice stated.

The CBSE notice requested the public to maintain the sanctity of the board exams and not spread fake information.
