The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) is organising a virtual conclave today, September 11, 2024, aimed at enhancing the skills of school counsellors. Scheduled from 3 pm to 4 pm, the event can be accessed via this link: Virtual Conclave Link.
Principals and heads of CBSE-affiliated schools have been encouraged to ensure active participation from their counsellors, wellness teachers, and other staff members. The conclave is limited to 1,000 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
This initiative aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on equipping counsellors with the skills needed to effectively address the psychosocial, emotional, and career guidance needs of students. The
session will emphasise ongoing professional development, the sharing of best practices, and fostering a positive school environment conducive to students' overall well-being.
In addition to providing a platform for counsellors to exchange insights, the conclave underscores the critical role of mental health in education. It aims to promote a deeper understanding of mental health support amongst educators and other stakeholders.
Furthermore, CBSE has been conducting a series of one-day Capacity Building Programs in cities like Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai between July and September 2024. These sessions aim to upskill counsellors, wellness teachers, and school leaders through collaborative learning, following a hub-and-spoke model.
