Amaravati: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved the establishment of 50 new medical colleges across India in the current financial year. This will add 6,300 undergraduate seats to the country’s medical education capacity.
Of the 50 new medical colleges, 13 will be set up in Telangana, while five will be set up in Andhra Pradesh. The remaining 32
new medical colleges will be set up in Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Nagaland, Maharashtra, Assam, Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.
In Andhra Pradesh, the new government medical colleges will be set up in Eluru, Machilipatnam, Nandyal, Rajahmundry, and Vizianagaram.
