The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up to conduct the practical exams for Classes 10 and 12 for the session 2023-24, with exams set to commence from the first week of January 2024.
As a precursor to these board practical exams, CBSE has issued a comprehensive set of guidelines that are expected to be diligently followed by school principals and teachers.
CBSE PRACTICAL EXAM GUIDELINES:
1. Timely receipt of answer books: Schools are instructed to ensure the timely receipt of a sufficient number of practical answer books before the scheduled date for the practical examination.
2. Informing stakeholders: Schools are required to inform parents and students about the schedule, format, and any specific requirements for the practical examinations.
3. Infrastructure and equipment: Adequate arrangements, including infrastructure, equipment, and materials in laboratories, should be in place for the smooth conduct of practical exams.
4. Examiner coordination: Schools are advised to contact examiners in advance to facilitate the smooth and timely conduct of the examination process on the scheduled date and time.
5. Accommodations for special needs: Special accommodations should be made for students with special
needs or disabilities to ensure their comfortable participation in practical exams.
6. Adherence to schedule: Students are expected to appear for practical examinations strictly according to the schedule provided.
7. Daily upload of marks: Marks for all practical examinations, projects, and internal assessments should be uploaded every day, i.e., on the day of the assessment.
8. Accuracy in marks uploads: While uploading marks, both internal and external examiners must ensure the correctness of the uploaded marks as corrections won't be allowed post-upload.
9. External examiner arrangement: For Class 12, only an external examiner appointed by the Board is authorised to conduct practical examinations; no alternate local arrangements are permitted.
10. Finality of marks: No changes in marks are allowed after the finalisation and completion of the process. Attention to detail is emphasised for accurate mark uploads.
11. Compliance monitoring: CBSE reserves the right to cancel practical examinations if schools fail to comply with the Board's directions.
12. No extension of dates: The Board will not entertain requests for date extensions.
13. Clarifications: Schools can seek clarifications from the concerned regional office well in advance if needed.
