Telangana has decided to reopen the schools in the state from February 1 onwards. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao recently announced that the schools will reopen for students of class IX-XII.
The CM directed officials to make necessary arrangements for reopening the schools. He directed that the authorities should keep all schools and colleges ready by January 25 for the conduct of classes. He asked the ministers to visit the welfare hostels and see that they would ready for occupation by the students from February 1.
Higher educational institutes (HEIs) will also start functioning from February 1 onwards. The institutes will now be able
to conduct regular classes for students pursuing intermediate or degree courses.
The decision to reopen schools was taken in a high-level meeting with the Ministers and the District Collectors at Pragathi Bhavan. The state will release fresh guidelines and SOPs for schools reopening.
Educational institutes including universities, colleges and schools across the country were closed in mid-March last year but several states have allowed schools and colleges to conduct classes. The central government had announced a countrywide shutdown in March 2020 of educational institutes as part of measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
