Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal refused to open schools until he was “fully convinced” that the Covid19 situation had improved in the national capital. While delivering his Independence Day speech at the Delhi Secretariat, he said that the pandemic was more controlled now compared to what it was two months back.
He thanked all the stakeholders, including the central government, ‘corona warriors’ and different organisations.
The venue for the event was shifted from Chhatrasal Stadium to Delhi Secretariat this year due to the coronavirus
pandemic.
He said that the health of children was very important to the AAP government. He said he gets messages from people asking him not to reopen schools.
“I want to assure them that we care about their children as much as they do. Unless fully convinced, we are not going to open the schools,” he said, according to PTI.
Delhi recovering from Covid-19
The CM said that Delhi “gave the model” how to fight against Covid-19 through home isolation and plasma therapy and that efforts were being made to help Delhi’s economy recover.
