Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the Delhi government is planning to reopen schools only after the Covid-19 vaccine is available for the public after all the frontline workers are vaccinated. The Delhi government is looking for the best opportunity to reopen schools keeping the board exams in mind.
The schools have been guided to follow all SOPs and guidelines that are going to be issued by the state government after reopening. The Deputy CM told IE that the schools have not been planned to be open as yet.
Sisodia said, “Even if we start vaccinating people by February, we will be
able to vaccinate a sizeable chunk only by July.”
“There is no possibility of reopening schools before that. We also have to look at how examinations will be conducted without putting teachers and students at risk,” he also added.
The state government has decided to demolish the nursery admissions for the academic year 2021-22. Instead, the govt has proposed two batches of nursery and kindergarten in 2022-23.
The Delhi school principals are not in favour of this decision to scrap nursery admission due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The government, however, has not made a final decision yet.
