The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking postponement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG). The NEET UG exam is scheduled to be held on July 17, 2022.

The petition was filed by students seeking to postpone the examination for the year 2022 on grounds that the dates of the NEET and CUET exams would cause "pressure and trauma".

"Petitioners are students, so the court will not be harsh. Had it been anybody else, the court would have imposed heavy costs," observed Justice Sanjeev

Narula, while dismissing the plea.

"The entire cause that you have projected fades away if you see your plea. Pressure cannot be shifted like this. Ask your clients to study harder," the court said.

The counsel appearing for the National Testing Authority (NTA) argued that due to Covid the exam schedules were affected and this year the schedule was compressed to bring them back on track for the year 2023.

"If the exam is postponed further, then it could spill over again to next year," the counsel argued.
