At the Delhi government's Independence Day celebration, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the enrolment of 150 students from violence-ridden Manipur into Delhi government schools.
Kejriwal mentioned his sorrow over the unsettled status of Manipur, a state plagued by ethnic violence for many months now.
He confessed, "Fighting and hatred are going on everywhere in the country. It used to hurt to think about Manipur."
As a step towards a solution, Kejriwal disclosed that a modest
effort has been made to aid vulnerable students from Manipur.
"Today, we have made a small effort. As many as 150 children from Manipur have been given admission in Delhi government schools without school leaving certificates," he stated further.
These children have been granted admission in the absence of documents typically required, like school leaving certificates. Beyond enrolment, initiatives are being taken to help these students transition back to routine life, including counselling support mechanisms.
