The Narayana Group of Institutions launched ‘Disha’ helpline on Monday, a toll-free number for students with mental health issues to seek help.
The move comes following various student suicides and other academic cases that were reported from the institution. According to a press release issued by the group, in the last two years, over 40 dedicated counsellors have visited 82 junior colleges and
conducted over 1,000 sessions with 80,000 students.
“The programme will scale to over 100 dedicated professionals catering to the entire group covering four lakh students,” said the press release.
The toll-free number 1800-419-1828 was launched as a social responsibility initiative of the group for mental well-being among students.
