In a significant move aligning with the National Education Policy of 2020, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to embrace a multi-disciplinary approach.

Emphasising the need to broaden their scope beyond traditional specialisations, Pradhan's directive aims to enhance educational diversity and innovation within these prestigious institutions.

During the inauguration of the Odisha Research Centre (ORC) in collaboration with prominent institutions, Pradhan highlighted the center's pivotal role in exploring diverse research areas encompassing

Odisha's rich history, culture, economy, and societal aspects.

The establishment of this center is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape, particularly leading up to Odisha's centenary celebrations in 2036 and India's 2047 independence centenary.

Addressing a gathering that included Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Chhattisgarh counterpart Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, and other dignitaries, Pradhan emphasised the necessity of implementing a multi-disciplinary education system as per the National Education Policy of 2020.

He underscored the imperative for IITs and IIMs to align with this transformative approach.
