The government of Assam has taken the decision to reopen the schools and all other educational institutes in the state from January 1, 2021. All institutes from elementary to university level will be resuming normal functioning from January 1.
Though all educational institutes are reopening in Assam, the nursery and primary level classes will be conducted in a staggered manner from January 1 to avoid overcrowding in the classrooms and maintain proper social distancing.
Even though
physical classes are being resumed in the state, online classes will still be held for all the students who chose to attend classes from home. During the first phase of reopening of schools in Assam, attendance will not be made mandatory.
All schools and colleges in Assam were shut down in the last week of March 2020 due to the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic across the country and the imposition of the nationwide lockdown. The schools will be reopening in Assam after more than 10 months.
