Five people have been taken into custody and a minor held in relation to the alleged leak of the Telugu question paper for the Standard 10 (SSC) board exam, officials reported on Tuesday, March 25. The alleged members are a private school teacher and the owner of a photocopy shop, Nalgonda Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K Shivram Reddy added.

The incident of the suspected leak took place on March 21 at a government-run girl's residential school in the town of Nakrekal, where an exam centre was also situated. A boy allegedly climbed the school wall and snapped a photo of the question paper from a girl student inside the exam hall.

The question paper was later circulated on social media. A private tutor is said to have prepared answers to some of the questions and

returned them to the group. The answers were photocopied at a photocopy shop, police reported.

The suspects then attempted to pass answer slips to students at the exam centre. The suspects, however, fled after they saw police officers.

The investigators suspect the suspects had planned the act to help relatives and friends' children achieve higher scores.

The five arrested individuals were remanded to judicial custody on March 23, and police are continuing to investigate against six other accused.

The case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Telangana State Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair Means) Act, 1997.

SSC board exams commenced in Telangana on March 21.
